ABOUT
Hi. I'm Kerri (Anne). I'm a storyteller, mountain dweller, master naturalist, the conservationARTist behind Little Orange Tent Art, co-founder of McCall Made, and the co-founder of the small but mighty (and now officially 11-years-old) outdoor nonprofit, Endless Trails. I lead a quarterly writing group over at Creative Fuel Collective called DIVE. I write a newsletter called Kerrtopia.
I love helping writers unearth their stories, connecting artists to paychecks, exploring remote mountain trails, swimming across cold alpine lakes, organizing low-key, grassroots, we-count-your-laps-with-star-stickers FUNdraising trail races trail with my conservationist/outdoor educated partner and our snuggly muppet pup (Toya!), learning the names of local flora and fauna, using my words, making art every day, puns, pugs, ponderosas, and alliterative adventure.
Born and raised in the Inland Northwest, Idaho has been one of my heart's homes since before I could walk, and so that's where I live now, nestled in some of my favorite mountains, with plenty of alpine lakes to swim every chance I get.
I've been in love with words, water, and the connective magic of good storytelling for as long as I can remember.
I've been writing for fun and for profit since elementary school and junior high, respectively. My aunt gifted me my very first journal when I was in the 5th grade, and I wrote my first play in the 6th grade (an adaptation of an R.L. Stine story that was performed in front of my school). In the 8th grade I won my very first writing contest, $200 cash, and a stuffed D.A.R.E. bear. I've been hooked ever since.
I have a BA in English Literature and extensive experience with technical writing, creative writing, grant-writing, as well as creating unique and engaging copy for an eclectic assortment of websites, companies, authors, and brands.
By day I work for an indie nonfiction publishing company [my job is essentially to get good books into the hands of the right people—something I happen to be quite good at, which is great, because I also love it]. By night I write my own books and help other writers dive for their stories.
When I’m not doing any of that, I’m likely swimming or otherwise very intentionally playing outside, and/or reading as many books as possible, preferably next to (or in) an alpine lake.
